Five Little Ducks
Five little ducks went out one day, over the hill and far away
… with an elephant?!
A seasonal update on a counting classic with some very cute and colorful creatures.
Seasons, animals, numbers … and ducks. Lots of ducks.
The traditional rhyme Five Little Ducks is an evergreen favorite with kids. While its origins are unclear, there’s something about it that kids just love.
It might be the counting backwards, or the slight feeling of mischief, the drama, the neat circularity, or the feeling of security created by the ending. Whatever it is, they don’t seem to tire of it.
Its great for learning numbers, and includes a subtle safety message that helps parents like it, too.
We decided to do an updated version and included animal names and seasons to give parents and teachers more flexibility (and useful language).
Yoshiake Ikebe’s whimsical collages were a perfect match for us and provide a high degree of visual interest for readers young and old.
And of course our favorite musicians, Tomo’o Tsuruya and Norihito Sumitomo, have done a fantastic job of the music, as always – thanks guys!
